Anna Louise Gerow

Anna Louise Gerow, a long-time resident of Burlington and Elon, passed away December 3, 2019 at the Village of Kinston in Kinston, NC.

 Anna was the daughter of former Mayor of Burlington Jimmy Gerow and Betty Kichline Gerow.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Jim Gerow, Jr. She is survived by her brother, David H. Gerow, of Sun City, FL and her sister-in-law, Ceci Gerow, of Apoka, FL; three nieces, Laura Gerow Hall and her husband Bob, Delores Gerow Ratay and her husband Bill, all of Florida, and Mariah Gerow Lynch, of Washington, NC and a nephew, David Nicholson Gerow and his wife Karen, of Athens, GA. She is also survived by her close friend Libba Gerow Wolfe of Roanoke, VA, and a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Anna was a member of the Williams High School class of 1966. She graduated from Elon College and earned her Master of Education from UNC-G. She taught for 30 years in the Alamance County Schools.

Anna was an active member of the First Christian UCC in Burlington. Until her health declined, she filled a leadership role with the Alamance County Democratic Women.

Anna’s many interests included horse-back riding, dancing, travel, golf, gardening, and cat shows.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am December 7th at First Christian UCC in Burlington. The family will receive friends in the Bray Fellowship Hall of the church following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Betty Gerow Scholarship Fund at Elon University, an endowment Anna established in her mother’s memory (Office of Alumni Engagement, 306 N O’Kelly Ave, Campus Box 2605, Elon University, Elon, NC, 27244).
