Emma Dee (Gladson) Gray

Emma Dee Gladson Gray, 94, of Kinston went to be with her Lord Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at UNC Lenoir Health Care.

Funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Kincaid officiating. Visitation will follow the service and other times at her home. Graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Pinelawn Memorial Park.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy “Jiggs” Gray; parents, James, Sr. and Penelope Gladson; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Gray; great grandson Noah Grayson Stroud.

First and foremost, she loved her Lord Jesus Christ. Emma loved spending time with her family and friends. She would always lend a helping hand and never met a stranger that didn’t fall in love with her. She retired from Caswell after 40 years as an LPN. Emma loved to feed her grandbabies and could cook a mean stewed tater. She had a laugh you wish you could bottle up. She had one of the best laps to lay your head in.

Survivors include her sons, Robert Gray and Donald Gray, Sr.; grandchildren, Donald Gray Jr. and wife Jenny, Krystal Gray (Howard Thornton), Nicanor Bautista (Maria Cisneros), Aaron Gray, Anna DeMent and husband Jared, Koleman Gray; great grandchildren, Kelsey Gray, Korey Gray, Emaly Jarman, Brett Jarman, Vivienne DeMent, Emma Westbrook. Special family, Kathy Scott, Jamie Cash and the members of Neuse Baptist Church.
