Glenda Faye (Waters) Hines

Glenda Faye Waters Hines, born January 26, 1953 to John and Earlene Waters of Kinston, went to be with her lord and savior at the age of 66.  On December 31, 2019 Glenda received her angel wings at the Service League of Greenville Inpatient Hospice.  Glenda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend to all she met. 

She attended Lewis Elementary, Harvey Jr. High & Grainger High schools.  Glenda retired in 2012 from the City of Kinston.  She enjoyed her work serving the people of Kinston for 32 years.  During her career she made many lasting loving friendships with her co-workers. 

Glenda enjoyed spending time with her family and taking girls’ trips to the mountains.  Although she did not have a favorite team she liked watching football and picked a jersey color to cheer for.

Glenda leaves behind her husband of 48 years, Henry.  Her beloved children which will miss her dearly, Dawn King & husband Lynn of Kinston, Daniel Hines & wife Bobbie of Pink Hill, and Becky Hines of Autryville; grandchildren Lynley King (Kivett Taylor), Tyler Worthington (Brooke Huggins), of Kinston and Carrie Ann Hines (Tyler Brock), and Nicholas Hines, of Pink Hill, and one great-grandchild Olivia Hammond, of Bladenboro.

Her brother Edward Waters, wife Debra, and sister Peggy Jones, all of Kinston.  Nieces and nephews Coley Hood, husband Scuttie of Winterville, Mallory Waters of Goldsboro, and Lisa Jones (Justin Wollett) of Kinston.  There are many special great nieces and nephews & cousins that she loved with all her heart. She is also survived by her aunt, Carol Wells, of Kinston.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the nurses, care partners, doctors, and other staff at Vidant Medical Center for their compassion and care during her stay.  As well, many thanks to her physicians Dr. Pradeep Arumugham, Dr. Ralph Cox, and Dr. Chris Cummings.

The family will receive guests at the home of Dawn and Lynn King at 4100 Elm Grove Road, Kinston.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 6:00 pm at Howard-Carter Funeral Home in Kinston, NC.  Visitation with family to follow service.  Graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 11:00 am at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston
