Isabelle Thompson Barwick

Isabelle Thompson Pearce Barwick, 87, of Kinston, passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2018 at UNC Lenoir Healthcare surrounded by her loving family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She was a member of Bethel Free Will Baptist Church. She truly loved spending time with her family and friends and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone, quick with a smile, had a heart of gold and was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to service. A graveside service will be held following the funeral at Westview Cemetery.

Isabelle is preceded in death by her parents Willie and Blanche Thompson; her first husband James William Pearce Sr.; her second husband Willie Van Barwick; brother Clifton Thompson and Burselle Thompson; sisters Dorothy Tyndall, Estelle Smith and Gaynelle Harris; son-in-law, Roger Taylor and two infant great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughters, Brenda P. Jones, Janice P. Blalock and husband Russell, Martha P. Taylor, Debra P. Waggener and husband Chris, Patricia Pearce, Tammy P. Sowers and Lori P. Simonson, son, James William Pearce, Jr., sisters, Sally Baker and Doris Futrell, brothers, Bobby Thompson and George Thompson, 20 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org) or Bethel Free Will Baptist Church.
