James Hardy Dawson

James Hardy Dawson, 77, of Kinston passed away on Monday, February 12, 2018 at Wayne UNC Health Care.

Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow the visitation with Reverend Ashley Summerlin and Pastor Justin Barnett officiating. Burial will follow the service at Evergreen Cemetery in Grifton.

He will always be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather. He enjoyed playing golf, spending time with family and friends. Everyone who knew him always knew that he was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

James is preceded in death by his wife, Sally Harper Dawson; parents, Claro Dawson and Ethel Sykes Dawson; daughter, Kim Johnson; and two brothers, Robert Dawson and Thomas Scott Dawson

Survivors include daughter, Brenda Smith and husband Tommy; step-daughter, Kathy Letchworth; son, David Dawson, Derick Dawson, Chris Dawson and wife Morcia; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; special niece, Tersea Boyette; and many special family and friends.
