Jessica Morgan Ramsey

Jessica Morgan Ramsey, 16, of Deep Run was accepted into Heaven on Wednesday, February 7, 2018. Her family and friends were by her side to watch Jessica play her last game. Jessica was an angel before her time, with a great deal of spirit and attitude on display for everyone around her to enjoy. She was a very loyal friend who told her friends the way it is, not what they wanted to hear. With that came the sassiness of a beautiful, confident young lady. Jessica was an avid volleyball athlete and horse lover. At a very early age, Jess was introduced to horses and fell in love with barrel racing and trail riding. She loved to share time with her friends and family, and she loved the beach. Jessica was a beloved student at South Lenoir High School where she was heavily involved in athletics and numerous clubs.

Jessica was born in Greenville, North Carolina to Jon Lee Ramsey and Tracy Michelle Thurman on June 5, 2001. 

Jessica is preceded in death by her grandfather, Walter Ramsey, and her great grandmother, Margarette Williams.

Jessica is survived by her father, Jon and wife Larkin Ramsey of Kinston; her mother, Tracy and husband Lathan Thurman of Deep Run; brothers, Caleb Ramsey and girlfriend Angelina Stewart of Deep Run, and Jaylin Lynch of Kinston; sister, Peyton Ramsey of Kinston; aunt, Tammy and husband Lee Cannon of Deep Run; aunt, Tiffany and husband Allen Laine of Waco, TX; uncle, Tim Herring and wife Malisha Waters of LaGrange; uncle, Jason and wife Rachael Ramsey of Raleigh; uncle, Jon and wife Lauren Thurman of Waco, TX; grandparents, Kenneth and Diane Herring of Scotts Store, Nina Carol and Billy Layton of Little Washington, and Linda Sykora of Deep Run; boyfriend, Jared Carawan of Kinston; as well as many special friends and family far too numerous to list.

There will be a candlelight vigil in the auditorium at South Lenoir High School in Deep Run on Friday, February 9, 2018. Doors will open at 6:30pm and the vigil will begin promptly at 7:14pm.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Jackson Heights Free Will Baptist Church (285 Camellia St. Kinston, NC). Funeral service will begin at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
