John Charles Casey, Sr., 91, passed away on November 9, 2018 at UNC Lenoir Healthcare.
Charles was born in Nash County on February 5, 1927. He graduated from Snow Hill High School in 1944 and enlisted in the Merchant Marines the same year. He was very proud to serve as a Merchant Seaman during WWII. He then served in the Army Reserves and worked at Barrus Construction Company for 37 years. Charles retired to raise vegetables and flowers that he shared with his family and special friends. A very special place to Charles was Fontana Village, NC. He and Audrey honeymooned there and continued to visit and make many special memories with family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Francis and Selma Casey; two brothers Eugene Francis Casey, William T. Casey and son baby boy Casey.
Charles is survived by his wife of 59 years Audrey Johnson Casey of the home; son, John Casey, Jr. and Cherie and his children, Laura, Erin, Trey, Daniel, Kenna and Kelly; son, Greg Snowden and wife, Janie, their children, Jennifer, Paul, and Christi; daughter, Anne Delmore and her husband Tom, their children, Amie and Beth; and daughter, Barbara Garvey and husband Victor, and their children, Jackson and Bryson; thirteen great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter; along with many special nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorial service will be held 2:00 pm. Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 902 Church with Pastor Rick Vernon officiating. Visitation will follow the memorial service.
