Josephine "Jo" Carraway Anderson 85, of Kinston passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Harmony Hall in Kinston. She was born to the late H.T. & Manola Carraway in Wayne County on July 14, 1933. She is also preceded in death by her sister Margie Faulkner and brother, Marvin Carraway. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling and helping others. She was married to her wonderful husband, Thurman Elwood "Doc" Anderson for 63 years until he passed away. Survivors include her Daughter, Phyllis Burkett of LaGrange; Son, Elwood Anderson and wife Susan of Tennessee; Grandchildren, Tonka McCoy and husband Sammy, C.B. Hardman, Brittany Dunn and husband Clay, Crandell Anderson and wife Wendy, Great-Grandchildren; Samantha and Jake McCoy, Gates Hardman, Emerson and Cale Dunn, Jordan and Bailey Anderson, Special Niece's; Shirley Cox and husband Ken, Jean Collins and husband Larry.

Visitation will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home, Funeral Service will begin at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Chris Truett officiating. Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m on Monday, September 24, 2018 at Pinelawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Phyllis Burkett, 2536 Stratford Drive, LaGrange, NC 28551.
