Margaret “Margie” Hill Collins, 91, of Kinston, NC, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at her home. Raised on a tobacco farm in Lenoir County, she was the fourth of Melissa and Guy Hill’s six children. Margie attended Wheat Swamp High School in LaGrange, where she was recruited by the FBI. After her graduation in 1944, she took a bus to Washington, DC and began her career with the Bureau. In 1947, friends introduced Margie to Jack Collins and they were married the following year. After five years with the FBI, Margie left work to be a stay at home mother. Margie and Jack raised their four children in Fairfax, Virginia and retired to Kinston in 1988.
Margie was preceded in death by her sons, Randal Glen Collins and Russel Greg Collins. She is survived by her beloved husband, John “Jack” Collins, daughters Janice Collins of Albuquerque, NM and Pam Collins Peters of Reston, VA, in addition to six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Vito Bisogno officiating. Burial will be held following the service at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Margaret Collins to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
