Mary Hope Roberts Pharand

.Mary Hope Roberts Pharand, 74, passed away on Thursday, May 17 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center in Wilmington.
 

A graveside service will be held Saturday 3 PM at Westview Cemetery in Kinston with Pastor Hank Jarman officiating.
 
Mary Hope  was born in Lenoir County to the late James Allen Roberts and Dorothy Mercer Roberts. She was preceded in death by both parents.
 
Mary Hope was a graduate of Wheat Swamp High School and the cosmetology school at Lenoir Community College.  She worked as a beautician in both Kinston and Tarboro.  Later she worked as a case manager at the Department of Social Services in Edgecombe, New Hanover, and Mecklenburg County where she retired.
Mary Hope is survived by her husband, Michel Pharand of Leland, NC; daughter, Kim Speight of Durham, NC; son, Ken Speight and wife Beth of North Charleston, SC; daughter, Mary-Margaret Finch and husband Doug of Littleton, CO; and two step-sons, Sebastien Pharand and Yohann Pharand, both of Quebec, Canada; five grandchildren, Justin Johnson, Kinsey Ichimura, Chelsea Doyle, Ethan Finch, and Reid Finch; four step-grandchildren, Alexandra Pharand, Arianne Pharand, Americk Pharand, Benjamin Pharand; and two great-grandchildren, Ashton and Austin Johnson.
 
Mary Hope was always especially proud of her children and grandchildren. She loved the beach and was an avid reader and gardener.  She saw beauty in everything and in everyone.
