Vernon Carlyle Suits

Vernon Carlyle Suits, 89, of Kinston, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2018. Vernon was born on July 19, 1928 in Nash County, NC to James Daniel Suits and Lillian Agatha Clark. Vernon was the sixth of seven children. Vernon was married to his wife, Mildred Rouse Suits for 63 years.

Vernon was a member of Westminster United Methodist Church in Kinston for 62 years. Vernon was a member of the church choir and was a past Scoutmaster of the church boy scout troop. Vernon also contributed to the church and to his faith in many other ways over the years.

Vernon was an employee of the Dupont manufacturing plant for 30 years and remembered his years there fondly. Vernon also had a successful career as a self-employed electrician in Kinston for more than 20 years after retiring from Dupont.

Vernon was also a combat veteran of the United States Army. Vernon served with distinction during the Korean conflict from 1950-1951.

Vernon is survived by his three children, Vernon Carlyle Suits, Jr., Scot Adrian Suits, and Pamela Joyce Suits. Vernon is also survived by his four grandchildren, John Carlyle Suits, Kendyl Joyce Cosgrove, Sydney Anne Suits and Conrad Hanson Suits.

Visitation will be held at Howard-Carter Funeral Home, Sunday, July 8, 2018 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Funeral service will be held at Westminster United Methodist Church with Pastor Dena White officiating, Monday, July 9, 2018 at 11:00 with graveside to follow at Westview Cemetery.
