Alma H. Boyd, of Kinston, passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023. Known as “Doodle” to her family and friends, Alma was born January 10, 1934 in Lenoir County to the late Alton Parker Hill and Mildred Ervin Hill. She was also preceded in death by her spouse, Rayon Lee “Dick” Boyd; brothers, Reverend A.P. Hill, Jr., James E. Hill, Jasper Linwood Hill, and Charles H. Hill, and sister, Ann H. Brinson.
She was born and raised in Kinston and attended Grainger High School, where she graduated with honors. She was a conservative woman who attended Queen Street Methodist Church. She was a student of the Bible and read the scriptures daily. She gave a great deal of her time and resources to help her family in their time of need. Alma was a dear sister and loving friend and will be truly missed.
Alma is survived by her brother, William Keith Hill and wife, Judy, of Dupont, WA, along with other close family members and many cherished friends. Some of her happiest times were spent with her Bojangles family.
The family would like to thank the staff and management of Heritage Elite for their care and kindness shown to Mrs. Alma. A special thanks to Laura Ingrams for all her visits and prayers shared with Alma.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Creighton Alexander officiating. Burial will follow the service at Westview Cemetery.
