Annie Elizabeth (Byrd) Jackson

Annie Jackson, 98, of Kinston, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2022 at Snow Hill Assisted Living. She was preceded in death by her parents, Janie and James Henry Byrd; children, Jerry Robert Holland and wife, Gwen, and Gary James Kornegay and wife, Janice, and sisters, Edith Kornegay and Wanda Powell.

She enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, ceramics, and watching “The Golden Girls”. Most of all though, Annie loved her family.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law Bonnie Kornegay; grandchildren, Samuel Kornegay and wife, Amy, and Shawn Tilghman and husband, Ben; great-grandchildren, Bailey Tilghman, Cooper Tilghman, Andrew Kornegay, and Owen Kornegay; sister, Elsie Sears; many special nieces and nephews, and other close family and friends.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Annie’s caretakers and special family friends for helping her in her time of need.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home.
