Arliss F. Mercer

Arliss F. “Chub” Mercer, 87, of Trenton, NC passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Riverpoint Crest Nursing and Rehab Center. Although he tried his hand at several different career paths, he was first and foremost a farmer for most of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Rena Mercer, and his wife of 56 years, Julie Taylor Mercer. He is survived by three daughters, Angie (Kevin), Debbie (Ron), and Beverly (Ray), all of New Bern, one son, Gene (Sherri) of Trenton, eight grandchildren, and a multitude of greats, grands, steps, in-laws, outlaws, and extended family.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Friday, January 2, at Howard-Carter Funeral Home on Vernon Avenue in Kinston. A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, January 3, at Trenton Cemetery.
