Bertram Jack Pearson

Bertram Jack Pearson, 95, of Kinston, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024 at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Lena Pearson.

Bert was a very innovative person. He enjoyed computers, fishing, golf, and surfing. He loved spending his time surrounded by people; especially his employees, customers, and family. At the age of 35, he discovered his love for surfing, and in 1965 opened Bert’s Surf Shop. He continued to run his family business, Pearson’s Department Store.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Stern Pearson, of the home; daughter, Stephanie Pearson of Kinston; son, Curtis Morris Pearson and wife, Betty, of Morehead City; grandchildren, Harry Stern Pearson of Wilmington and Laura Anne Pearson of Morehead City, along with many other close family members and friends.

The family would like to thank his caregivers “Pearl’s Girls” and Linda Carey. They would also like to thank UNC Lenoir for their wonderful care of Bert.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at the back entrance of Pinelawn Memorial Park.
