Billy Waller Obituary

Billy Wilson Waller, 86, of Kinston, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026. He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Waller, parents, Oscar and Billie Waller, sister, Christy Jane Hawkins, and brother, Burgess Waller.

Born in Woodington, NC, Billy lived a life marked by service, dedication, and deep love for family and community.

Billy was a genuine man of strong faith. He was a lifetime member of Westminster United Methodist Church where he served with joy for many years.

He attended Oak Ridge Military Academy before continuing his education at Atlantic Christian college. His strong sense of duty led him to proudly serve his country as an Army Veteran, a role that reflected his discipline, courage, and commitment to others.

Following his military service, he worked at Hampton Industries, where he was known for his reliability and strong work ethic. His love for people led him to share his great qualities and attributes with Partnership for Children of Lenoir and Green Counties and the Society of St. Andrews, supporting causes close to his heart.

He was a devoted guardian ad litem, advocating for children and standing as a voice for those who needed protection and guidance. His compassion and integrity made a lasting impact on many lives.

Those who knew him will remember his great sense of humor, his genuine love for people, and his unwavering devotion as a true family man. He cherished his loved ones deeply and found his greatest joy in time spent with family and friends.

Billy was a great friend to many and in return had great friends. He enjoyed spending time with Rick Kearny and Harold Turner, friends that were cherished and appreciated.

His legacy of service, kindness, and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Billy is survived by his sons, David Waller and wife, Julie of Raleigh and Johnny Waller and wife, Debbie Everly of Chapel Hill; grandchildren, Chloe Waller, Caroline Waller, Emma Waller, Billie Waller, George Waller, Mac Kuder and Brenna Kuder, sister, Karen Taylor and husband Emmette, sister-in-law, Lula Shackelford, and brother-in-law, Alan Hawkins, along with special nieces and nephews.

David, Johnny, and family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to UNC Lenoir staff, Avendelle at Carlton Pointe (Family Care Home), and Transition Lifecare for the wonderful care that was given to their father.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 10:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. at Westminster United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston with Pastor Dennis Peay officiating, following the visitation.
