Bonnie Davenport Simmons, 72, of Kinston, joined her beloved husband, William (Bill) Bailey Simmons in Heaven on Sunday, November 2, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her father, P.W. Davenport, Jr.; stepmother, Sue G. Davenport, both of New Bern, NC; mother, Conchita Azcue of Brooklyn, NY; brother, E. Scott Davenport of New Bern (Lynne); sister, Pam Davenport Palmeter of Wilmington; sister, Ashley Davenport Jackson (Mark) of Wilmington, N.C.; niece, Caroline Palmeter; stepson Timothy Simmons, step granddaughter Rianon Simmons. In addition to Bill Simmons, she was the widow of Samuel Alton Quinn of Kinston.
Bonnie was a member of Armenia Christian Church. She enjoyed church activities and events where she could use her excellent cooking skills, especially with desserts. Bonnie is probably most remembered for her role in childcare, caring for the children of friends and family. Bonnie loved children, and those she kept had a special place in her heart. She had a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh, especially when telling family stories. As her health declined, her husband, Bill, stayed by her side to make sure she had the best care possible.
She is survived by her son, Michael Kevin Quinn of Clayton; stepson, Steven Bailey Simmons (Wendy) of Kinston; stepson, Tony William Simmons (Tammy) of Kinston; half-brother, David Azcue of Tokyo, Japan; step grandchildren, Brandon Simmons (Jessica); Noel Simmons, Bailey Simmons, Eric Simmons and Aubrey Simmons and many beloved great grandchildren, niece Candice Palmeter of Wilmington, niece Jennifer Phillips (John) of Turbeville, SC; nephew E. Scott Davenport (Kim) of New Bern, niece Blair Davenport of Raleigh, and niece Anna Jackson of Baltimore. She is also survived by special caregiver and friend, Karin Barrow of Kinston, for whom the family is immensely grateful.
A Celebration of Life in memory of Bonnie will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Armenia Christian Church. Visitation will follow the service.
A private burial will occur at a later date,
