Brenda Darlene Howard Quinn, 63, of Kinston, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.
Brenda was a deeply devoted mother and grandmother whose greatest joy in life was her family. She loved them more than anything and treasured every moment spent together, especially the family beach vacations that created memories to last a lifetime. Whether gathered for a holiday celebration or simply enjoying one another’s company, Brenda made every occasion feel special.
She found happiness in all of life’s simple pleasures. Brenda enjoyed reading, talking with family and friends, sipping on a Mountain Dew, and treating herself to a cheesesteak from Lilys. She never missed an opportunity to celebrate the major holidays, bringing warmth, laughter, and togetherness to those she loved.
Brenda also had an especially compassionate heart for animals. Her dog Bumper was her favorite and her best friend. She particularly was fond of stray cats. She welcomed many into her heart, caring for them with the same love and kindness she showed to everyone around her. Her gentle spirit and generous heart left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Brenda will be remembered for her unwavering love, her caring nature, and the joy she found in spending time with those closest to her. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she created and the love she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Vivian Howard; son, Draven Dawson Howard; brother, Kenneth Earl Howard; and sister in-law, Darlene Grant Howard.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter’s Cassie Johnson and husband Ryan of Kinston and Kelly Hardy and husband Blake of Kinston; grandchildren, Anberlee Johnson, Scarlett Hardy, and Baylor Hardy; brothers, Willard Allen Howard, Thomas Franklin Howard and Clifton Ray Howard and many nieces and nephews, and special friend Kat Mosley.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Howard-Carter Funeral Home. Visitation will immediately follow the service.
