Charles Henry McLawhorn

Charles Henry McLawhorn, age 94, of Kinston went home to be with the Lord on March 7, 2022.
Mr. McLawhorn served in the Army National Guard and Army Reserve for 40 years, retiring from the Army Reserve in 1988.
He was also a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for many years and a member of the Richard Caswell Lodge NO. 705 in Kinston.
After retirement he enjoyed hobbies like golf, bowling and billiards. He was also an active member of Kinston First Free Will Baptist Church.
Charles was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. There was nothing he loved more than making his family and friends laugh.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Lurlene McLawhorn; son, Ervin McLawhorn; and daughter, Debbie Mills.
He is survived by his daughter, Lorraine Carraway, 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Wanda, Delores, BJ and Beulah for their assistance in helping with his care.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, March 11, 2022 at Kinston First Free Will Baptist Church, 3297 Falling Creek Road, Kinston, NC 28504, with Pastor Terry Coates officiating. The family will receive friends after the service. In lieu of flowers the family asks you make a donation to your favorite charity in his honor.
