Clarence Jackson Baker, 83, of Kinston passed away peacefully, Tuesday, May 20 at his home. He was born in Lenoir County to the late Jack Baker and Mary Louise Blakely Baker, on September 6, 1941.
Clarence was an airplane mechanic and retired from the United States Airforce after 20 years of service in 1981. After retirement, he went to work at Cherry Point, where he later retired, again.
Never wanting to sit still, Clarence kept busy with many hobbies. Fishing was his favorite pastime. He could often be found fishing in the ocean. Tinkering on small engines was a hobby that kept Clarence busy. Rarely did he find an engine that was too big for his tinkering skills.
As a genuine man of the Faith, Clarence was a member of the Rivermont Baptist Church in Kinston, where he served for many years as a deacon.
With a very compassionate heart, many people in the community and church benefited from the generosity of Clarence. He enjoyed giving and doing for others.
Most of all, Clarence loved his family deeply. He spent many days and hours with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. As a parent and grandparent, he not only told his family that he loved them, but he also showed them every day through the life that he lived.
Clarence is preceded in death by his father, Jack Baker, mother, Mary Louise Blakely Baker; first wife, Sally Baker; second wife, Frances Moore and brother, Linwood Baker.
He is survived by daughters; Michelle Tyndall (Wade) of Deep Run, Tonya Christian (Bryan) of Ayden; son, Tommy Deaver and Larisa Deaver of Kinston, grandchildren; Dillon Tyndall (Lorraine), Dustin Tyndall, Devin Tyndall (Jessica), Saige Christian, Ella Christian, Logan Deaver (Taylor); great grandchildren, Libbie Black (Nick Morris), Daegun Tyndall, Daelin Tyndall, and Bella Tyndall; fictive granddaughter, Ciera Braxton; fur-babies, Skylar and Judy (dogs), and Smokey (cat).
Graveside Services will be held Friday, May 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston, with Pastor John Morton officiating. Visitation to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rivermont Baptist Church, 2478 Hwy. 258 S, Kinston, NC 28504.
