Clayton Ellis Ogren
Clayton Ellis Ogren, 86, of Ayden, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 in Kinston. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Myrtle Ogren, sister, Sandy Cooper, son, Gregg Ellis Ogren and daughter-in-law, Kim Ogren.
Clay is survived by his wife, Shirley Ogren of the home; brother, Chuck Ogren and family of Ohio; children, Mark Ogren and husband, Doug of Pittsboro, Kelly Deters and husband, David of Kinston and Jodi Leavy of Ayden; grandchildren, Jessica Ogren of Kinston, Will Deters and wife, Rebecca of Durham, and Eric Leavy of Ayden; great-grandchildren, Winter Leavy and Savannah Deters, and other close family members and friends.
Clay was a beloved member of his community and was always ready to greet a friend or stranger with a smile and a joke. He was blessed to be the pastor of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church of Kinston for 28 years. He retired as a supervisor at Barnet Southern.
He deeply loved his wife, Shirley, of 67 years and doted on her and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a wonderful example of Christ’s love towards his family and everyone he met.
