Dan Philyaw Killingsworth, 82, of Trenton passed away on Saturday, March 20, 2021, at Vidant Medical Center. He was a graduate of Jones Central High School and served two years in the US Army. Dan retired from the NC Forest Service in 1998 as Regional Operations Officer for Region 1. He was an avid deer hunter and was a charter member of Trenton Hunting Club and a member of Chinquapin Hunting Club. He loved gardening and flowers. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Harry M. and Hannah Phillips Killingsworth; brother, Robert “Dock” Killingsworth; sister, Sarah Killingsworth Andrews and brother-in-law, Elbert “Speck” Andrews, and niece, Terry Killingsworth Henricks.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Phillips Family Cemetery, Highway 58 North, Trenton with Pastor Kenny Huffman officiating, followed by military rites. A visitation will follow the service.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Gina Vadala of the home; his sister, Mary Killingsworth Tyndall, and husband, Bobby, of Kinston; his sister-in-law, Helen Killingsworth of Washington, NC; his niece, Sandra Andrews, of Trenton; his nephews, Ronnie Andrews and wife, Susan of Greenville, and Gary Killingsworth of Washington, NC; a great niece, and three great nephews.
