David Ray Alphin, Jr., passed away peacefully at his home on October 10, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on December 9, 1958, to the late David Ray Alphin, Sr. and Virginia Letchworth Barnette.
David was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Debra Faye “Debbie” Alphin, and special aunt Margaret Irene “Stump” Alphin.
He is survived by his loving wife, Annette Sowers Alphin of the home; son, David Ray “Trey” Alphin III and wife, Crystal Hill Alphin; daughter, Hannah Alphin Taylor and husband Dusty Eric Taylor; grandchildren, Madison Dawn Alphin, David Ray Alphin IV, and Owen Eric Taylor; sister, Sue Alphin Blizzard; special nephews, Jack Hardison and wife Stephanie, Scott Hardison and wife Denise, and Tommy Blizzard and wife Elizabeth; special niece Amanda Harrell and husband Stanley; and many special great-nieces, and extended family members.
David retired from Prolec GE (formerly Heavy Duty/Waukesha Electric Systems) in Goldsboro, where he worked for over 30 years. He was a skilled woodworker who created many one-of-a-kind pieces of furniture for family and friends-each crafted with love, patience, and precision.
He will be remembered for his kind and deep devotion he held for his family and friends. His craftsmanship and the warmth of his spirit will live on in the many lives he touched.
