David Lee Grant, 48, of Kinston, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. His life was defined by love, laughter, and dedication to those around him.
He was a true family man who cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, especially the time he shared with his grandchild, Zaiden. His heart was rooted in simple joys- mowing the grass, casting a fishing line, and firing up the grill for those he cared about. An outdoorsman at heart, he found peace and happiness in nature and never missed an opportunity to enjoy it.
David had a passion for music, especially rock, and could often be found playing his guitar. Whether riding his motorcycle or relaxing at home watching wrestling, he embraced life with enthusiasm and authenticity. He especially treasured vacations at Virginia Beach, where memories were made that will be held close forever.
Known for his humor, he was a natural storyteller who could light up any room with laughter. His kindness knew no bounds-he was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back without hesitation. Loving, selfless, and hardworking, he left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Milton “Buddy” Mercer Grant and Hilda Suggs Grant.
David is survived by his loving wife of the home, Crystal Grant; son, Kaleb Carlyle; step-daughter; Kourtney Smith (Will); grandson, Zaiden Carmichael; sister, Benita Hathaway; brother, Milton “Mickey” Grant (Valerie); aunt, Helen Brinkley; fur-baby, Macie Lee Grant; special friends, David and Tammy Mooring, David and Elizabeth Ormond, Jake and Ashley Ormond, Theresa Jones, and Frankie Mitchell, Chirs "Spanky" and Sasha Alphin; and special cousins, H.B. Hargett and Tina Moore.
His legacy of love, generosity, and strength will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
