Diane Jenkins White, 77, of Kinston passed away on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at UNC Lenoir Health Care, previously Lenoir Memorial Hospital, where she was employed as Community Relations Coordinator from 1979 until her retirement in 2009. She was born to the late Rom Jenkins and Emily Jenkins Holt, May 9, 1944. Diane graduated from Grainger High School in 1962.
She is survived by three children, Dana Whitehurst Seifert (Keith), Lisa Whitehurst Tolston, and Jefferson Scott Whitehurst (Bonnie); stepdaughter, Teresa Heath (Stacy); five grandchildren, Brandon Whitehurst, Haley Seifert Mann (David), Devyn Seifert, Hannah Heath, and Karmen Heath; two brothers, Rom Jenkins and Carl Holt (Barbara); sister, Ann Holt Fields (Raymond) and niece, Sheila Fields. Diane is predeceased by her loving husband, Bobby White, her infant daughter, Christie Whitehurst, and daughter, Jamie Chris Fields, who tragically passed in 2002 following a motor vehicle accident. Our family was forever changed with the passing of a daughter and sister.
Diane was an active member of Tanglewood Church of God, a member of the Visions Sunday School class, and a member of the choir, until health issues prevented her from physically attending. She was immensely proud of her family and known to frequently “brag” on their accomplishments. The family would like to thank the staff of Kindred Home Health, the nurses, Physical and Occupational therapists, the outstanding, compassionate nurses of CCU, and the ladies from Tanglewood Church of God for the weekly meal provided.
The family will hold a private burial on June 3, 2021 at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jamie C. Fields Scholarship Fund at UNC Lenoir Health Care, 100 Airport Road, Kinston, North Carolina 28501.
