Donna Fields Mann, 68, of Kinston, N.C., passed away Monday, August 25, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born to the late Robert Earl Fields and Nannie Mewborn Fields on December 28, 1956.
A dedicated and loving mother and grandmother, Donna devoted much of her time to her children after the passing of her husband. To Donna, her family was her world. She loved them deeply and with unconditional love. Sundays were set aside to spend lunch with the Mann family and dinner with the Fields family. There was nothing compared to having her family together to share love and laughter.
Jesus Christ was first and foremost in Donna’s life. She was a long-time member of Rivermont Baptist Church in Kinston. With a love for music, Donna was a member of the choir. She also served as head of the Communion Committee and a member of the Benevolence Committee.
Donna enjoyed reading. Her favorite authors were James Patterson and Patricia Cornwell. She loved to sit on the porch in the mornings and drink her coffee, as this was her quiet time. Donna also liked to garden. With a green thumb, she was good at growing just about anything. Music was also a favorite of Donna’s. She liked soft rock. Journey, Jackson Brown, and Anita Baker were just a few artists that she took delight in listening to.
Donna’s career began as a respiratory therapist, working at Lenoir Memorial Hospital. She later joined the practice of Dr. Kirollis at Kinston Cardiology, working as a cardiac sonographer, where she retired from in 2017.
Spending the last 3 years at Magnolia Cottage, in Dover, Donna made new friends who became like family. Magnolia Cottage became her home. She loved the people there and the feeling became mutual.
Donna is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Terry Leonard Mann, and her father in-law, Rev. Lacy Oliver.
Left to honor her life and legacy are her daughters; Rachel Mann Gray and husband Ashley of La Grange, and Rebecca Jane Mann and husband Logan Nobles of Vanceboro, and son, Robert Houston Mann and wife Melissa of Kinston, grandchildren; Peyton Emory, Lucy Gray, Oliver Gray, Scarlett Hardy, Charlie Mann, Liam Nobles, Fields Mann, and Beckett Nobles, brother; Gary Fields and wife Pat of La Grange, mother in-law, Mary Oliver of Kinston, several brothers in-law, sisters in-law, nieces and nephews.
