Edmond Lewis Obituary

Edmond Thomas “Tommy” Lewis, 68, of Kinston, passed away at his home, on June 23, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family. Born in Lenoir County on August 20, 1956, Tommy lived a full and generous life with family and friends.

Tommy loved his family more than anything in the world. He was a devout husband, father, and grandfather to his wife Kelly, children and grandchildren.

A United States Navy Veteran, he served his country for four years with honor. Tommy loved his country and flag with great respect. After his service, he joined the Kinston Police Department and worked as a detective. Having a strong love for politics, he could often be found watching Fox News.

Always ready to lend a hand, Tommy never met a stranger. His warmth and willingness to help left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Tommy had a heart-felt passion for life and people. Everyone that met him grew to love him. Waiters and waitresses loved Tommy because he tipped so well. He enjoyed golfing and dancing. Shagging was one of his favorite pastimes. He also had a love for beach music.

No matter the day or the moment, Tommy greeted life with joy. He was known for saying, “Today is the best day of my life,” and he meant it- every single time. His words reminded everyone around him to be present, to be thankful, and to find the good in each day.

His love for the Lord was unmatched. His family, friends, and Law Enforcement Friends held a special place in his heart. Tommy will no doubt be in Heaven saying, “Fire up the warrant machine”, because he’s there solving cold cases. He will not only be missed by his family, but by a large community of friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Riley Thomas Lewis and Ina Leigh Lewis and grandson Matthew “Trent” Allen.

Tommy is survived by his loving wife, Kelly Harding Lewis, of the home, his daughters, Amber May (Jeff) of La Grange, and Lisa Lewis of Clearwater, Florida; and his grandchildren, Skyler Lewis, Ethan May, Gavin May, and Jameson Pare. He was also blessed with a great-grandchild, Kennedy Lewis. He is also survived by his sisters, Jackie Smith of Kinston and Carolyn Ollar of Raleigh, as well as nieces and nephews, friends and extended family and dear friends. Tommy held a special place in his heart for LoLo Howell, Mindy, Shuan, Obadiah, D’Leah, Jose, and his cherished law enforcement brothers and sisters.

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at Jackson Heights OFWB Church. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. with the service to follow at 4:00 p.m., with Pastor Justin Barnett officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd. Staten Island, NY, 10306
