Edna Blizzard Obituary

Edna Dail Blizzard, 90, of Kinston, NC, passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2025. Edna, affectionately known as the “Doctor of Herbs,” was a woman of deep wisdom, faith, and creativity whose hands and heart inspired all that surrounded her. A master gardener and lover of the natural world, she had a true green thumb and an unmatched knowledge of trees, flowers, and herbs. Her garden was not only a place of beauty but a living testament to her connection with nature and her gift for healing.

As a devoted teacher who shared her many talents with others, she taught banjo and guitar, inspiring a love of music that resonated with all who knew her. A passionate lover of music, dancing, and singing, she found joy in every melody and rhythm of life.

Family was the cornerstone of Edna’s world. She was deeply proud of her loved ones and carried a spirit of resilience that inspired everyone around her. Known as one of the most resourceful women, she often said, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.” True to her words, she was a fixer of many things- both in the home and in the hearts of those she loved.

Edna was a survivor, naturalist, and creative soul, her strength-both physical and spiritual-was remarkable. According to the Leo Jenkins Cancer Center, she was the longest living survivor of CML on record, by many years. She was truly one of a kind. Her faith guided her throughout her life. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and The Pilgrim Home Baptist Church in her younger years.

Today, Edna leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and inspiration. Her hands tilled the earth, her music lifted spirits, and her unwavering faith touched countless lives. She will be remembered as a teacher, survivor, and a resource to all who had the honor of knowing her.

Edna is survived by her daughters, Sandra Honeycutt of Wilmington, Barbara Nichols and husband Greg of Kinston, Debora Edwards and husband James Earl of Beulaville, and Rhonda Adams and husband Dwight Jr. of Ayden; sister, Effie Mae Moore and husband Darrell of Fayetteville; brother, David Blizzard of Morehead City; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
