Ernest Dale Whaley

Ernest Dale Whaley, 70, of Kinston passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at UNC Lenoir Health Care. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Wilton Whaley and Alma Keeton Whaley; daughter, Stephanie Whaley, and grandson, Allen Whaley.

Ernest enjoyed watching the weather channel and NASCAR, especially his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt. He cared for his family deeply and loved seeing them every month when they gathered to eat together. He was loved by everyone around and will be truly missed.

Survivors include his son, Michael Allen Whaley, of Kinston; grandchildren, Micah Allen Whaley and Michael Allen Whaley, Jr.; sister, Wanda W. Parker and husband, Dicky, of Snow Hill; and brother, Gary Whaley and wife, June, of La Grange.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 19, 2021 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with Pastor Allen Ham officiating. A visitation will immediately follow. It is asked that social distancing be practiced, and masks worn.
