Eugene Smith

Eugene Smith, 93, of Kinston passed away on January 6, 2021 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Riley Smith and Rosa Carter Smith; wife, Joyce Smith; brothers, J.M. Smith, Buddy Smith, Braxton Smith, and David Smith; and good friend, Mary Green.

Left to cherish his memory are Eugene’s children, Rose Smith Grady and husband, Roger, Lena Smith Whaley and husband, Sidney, and Eugene Smith Jr. and wife, Lisa, all of Kinston; grandchildren, Chris Smith and wife, Mary Ann, Riley Grady and wife, Tracy, Sharron Hinson, Kelly Brinn and husband, Aaron, and Brandi Grist and husband, Martin; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Rev. A.G. Smith and wife, Lula, of Kinston, and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. Donald Ribeiro, the staff at Kitty Askins, and the staff at 3HC for their exceptional care of Mr. Eugene.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Pinelawn Memorial Park with Pastor Allen Ham officiating.
