Evelyn (Smith) Lambert

Rachel Evelyn Smith Lambert passed away peacefully in her home on December 5, 2025, surrounded by her children. Born on May 8, 1941, she was the daughter of Ruby and Henry Smith and the oldest of five siblings.

Evelyn attended Deep Run High School, graduating in 1959. She married Charles E. “Dick” Lambert on July 17, 1960. Shortly after, she began her career at DuPont, where she worked for over 35 years. She was blessed to be the mother of Holly Lambert Griffin and Charles Kevin Lambert.

After retiring, she found time for camping and fishing at the beach. In her later years, she enjoyed weekly sisters’ nights, traveling with her friend Don Creech, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Dick Lambert, her brother Stanley C. Smith and her sister Velma Dean Davis. She is survived by her sisters, Sue Smith Rouse and Peggy D. Smith, daughter Holly Griffin and long-time partner, Charles Curtis, and her son Kevin Lambert and wife Melissa H. Lambert. Additionally, she leaves behind her grandchildren; Robin Griffin and long-time partner Sam Shipp, Jennifer Griffin, and Zachary Lambert, as well as four great-grandchildren; Garrett Shipp, Samantha Shipp, Chase Hardison, and Brexton Hardison. She is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and caregivers.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 12, at 1:00 p.m. at Christian Chapel Church, located at 1213 Jonestown Rd., Pink Hill, with Pastor Craig Simmons officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m., prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Harper Family Cemetery in Jonestown, at 258 South, Pink Hill.
