Frances (Walters) Warters

Frances Walters Warters, 81, of Kinston, passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Freddie Warters, and parents, Woodard and Elizabeth Stanley Walters.

Frances was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and earned her master’s degree in special education from Fayetteville State University. She retired after 34 years of teaching. She was a member of Hope Mills Methodist Church and a Shrinette with the Hope Mills Shrine Club. She enjoyed playing cards, puzzles, and collecting coins. She loved spending time with her family and her beloved poodle, Precious.

She is survived by her daughter, Darlene Elmore and husband, Greg, of Kinston; grandchildren, Lana Warren and husband, Chris, of Greenville, Alicia Stanley and husband, Thomas, of Kinston, and Whitney Askew and husband, Grant, of Kinston; great-grandchildren, Madison, Rhys, and Carys Warren, Callie, Allena, and Grayson Stanley, and Emma and Charlotte Askew, along with many other special family members and friends.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 30, 2023 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with funeral service following at 12:00 p.m. Entombment will follow the service at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
