Frank Vernon Bostic of Kinston, NC, passed away peacefully at home on January 31, 2023, with
his wife and children by his side following a courageous battle with cancer.
Frank was born in Beulaville, NC, on March 29, 1939, to Frank and Mary Bostic. He was
preceded in death by his parents as well as two sisters, Elouise Albertson and Janice
Montgomery and a brother Ercel Bostic. Frank was a member of Northwest Christian Church in
Kinston, NC, but had been attending Gordon Street Christian Church for several years.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of over 42 years, Marilyn Snipes Bostic. Additionally he is
survived by his two children, Lisa Bostic of Pittsboro and son, Ray Bostic and wife, Lesley, of
LaGrange. He is also survived by four grandchildren, whom he loved very much, Courtney
Bostic, Spencer Bostic, Drew Bostic, and Wyatt Bostic. Frank is also survived by three sisters,
Jewel Neeley and Edna Morgan of Wilmington, NC, and JoAnn Ipock of Kinston, NC. He is also
survived by numerous friends and family members.
Frank earned a Bachelor’s Degree from East Carolina University in 1963 and a Master of Social
Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1971. Frank also completed
requirements by the State of NC to practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in 2001.
Frank had a very strong work ethic and held many positions serving others throughout his
lifetime. Upon graduation from ECU, he began his career with the Philadelphia Department of
Recreation. After returning to NC he worked at O’Berry Center in Goldsboro where he served as
Director of the Title XX Program as well as a Unit Administrator.
Frank later went to work at Onslow County Mental health as a therapist. He and Marilyn moved
to Kinston in the early 1980’s. Frank was hired as Children and Youth Services Coordinator for
Lenoir County Mental Health and also served as a therapist in Children's Services. While
working at Lenoir County Mental Health, Frank worked part-time with Psychological Resources.
In 1994 he purchased Psychological Resources, at which time it became Bostic’s Family
Services. Frank retired from Lenoir County Mental Health in 2001 and he worked full-time at
Bostic’s Family Services until his retirement in 2011. He served many people in Lenoir and
surrounding counties by providing individual family and marriage therapy along with EAP
services to several companies in Kinston. Frank also provided supervision to several Social
Workers at Lenoir Memorial Hospital.
Following Frank’s retirement in 2011, he and Marilyn enjoyed many trips throughout the country
and Europe. One of the most memorable trips was with his children and grandchildren on an
Alaskan cruise.
Frank was an avid Carolina fan and rarely missed a basketball or football game. He loved to
turn the sound down on the TV and listen to the radio during games.
A celebration of life will be held at Gordon Street Christian Church, Kinston, NC, Saturday,
February 4 at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends and family in the sanctuary at 1:00 p.m.
Burial to follow the service at 3:00 p.m. at East Duplin Memorial Gardens, 2192 E. NC 24,
Beulaville, NC.
