Gene Raymond Lupton age 82 passed away May 7, 2022. He was the son of Pattie D. Lupton of New Bern and Curtis E. Lupton of Virginia. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a granddaughter Avery Hackett, a daughter-in-law Erin T. Lupton, his sister Mary L. Collins, his brother C.E. Lupton, and brother-in-law Richard Dunn. He is survived by his Wife of 59 years Mona, his daughter Gena Lupton Hackett with granddaughter Abigail Hackett, and son Gene Lupton, Jr. (Ana Gaskill). Sisters Patricia Dunn, Bonnie Davis (Elmer), Terry Johnson (Doug), brother Donnie Lupton (Nancy), and sister-in-law May Lupton, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family.
After working on his uncles’ farm as a teenager, Gene joined the Navy at age 17 and after a short tour he began a career in powerline construction that spanned more than 40 years. Though retired from one job he transitioned into a full time business of outdoor lighting and sign erection before retiring due to declining health at age 77. He was a scoutmaster for more than 10 years of Troop 438 of Northwest Christian Church, a Jaycee, and a very active member of the Lenoir County Fair Association for over 2 decades.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2022 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
