George Lawson Roberts

George Lawson "Rob" Roberts, 85, of Dudley, North Carolina, peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. Rob was born in Erwin, NC on July 26, 1938 to Maggie Roberts and Warren McLamb. He attended Erwin High School before serving in the Navy. A proud Veteran, Rob served his country in Morocco before a career with Sears in Fayetteville and then as a correctional officer at Central Prison in Raleigh, NC. After moving to Goldsboro in 2002, Rob began Double 'G' Pilot Car Service.

Rob loved being by the water, riding horses, and cooking delicious meals for friends and family. Rob was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He is preceded in death by his father, his mother, and his sister Arlene Orsuto Jacobs.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 17 years, Gail Brake Roberts, his treasured daughters, Claudette McLamb and partner Jeff Dyer of Wilmington, NC, and Sheila Roberts of Dunn, NC as well as his twin sons. Jeff Hussey and wife Felicia of Pikeville, NC and Mike Hussey and wife Brenda of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Dr. Zane Gooding and wife Jessica of Durham, NC, Dr. Rachel Gooding of Greenville, NC, Ashley Trevor and husband Danny of Asheville, NC, Jenna and Mara Hussey of Pikeville, NC, Brake and Taylor Hussey of Nashville, TN, and Roxanne Sumner and husband Kevin of Cary, NC; nine great-grandchildren, Nick, Emily, Isaac, Clementine, Amabelle, Kylee, Miller, Nolan and Corbin. He also leaves behind his dearest sisters, Dr. Donnie Orsuto and Jean Orsuto.

A celebration of life at graveside will be held at Westview Cemetery in Kinston, North Carolina on Monday, April 8, 2024 at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, Rob would urge others to give their "flowers" to loved ones while on Earth, understanding that the greatest gift we hold for ourselves and others is time.
