Gerald Lockamy
August 30, 1946 – October 6, 2025
Kinston- Gerald Thomas Lockamy, 79, of Kinston passed away Monday, October 6, 2025, at Spring Arbor of Kinston.
Gerald was born August 30, 1946, in Portsmouth, Virginia, to the late Grover Lockamy and Mildred Jernigan Lockamy. He was a graduate of Contentnea High School in 1964.
Gerald served his country in the U.S. Army and then worked for Carolina Telephone/Embarq/CenturyLink telephone company for approximately 25 years. After retirement he ran Lockamy’s Communication for 27 years. Gerald loved traveling the world, especially cruising. He was a VIP on the Carnival Cruise Ships with more than 30 cruises. He also cruised on the Royal Caribbean and others. He loved meeting people and made a lot of friends traveling that he continued to stay in touch with. He and his best friend, Tommy Howard, loved to travel to casinos everywhere from Atlantic City, Cherokee, Colorado, Mississippi, and others.
Gerald is survived by three brothers, Allen, Donald, and Wayne; nephews, Andy, Jonathan, and Jason Lockamy, and Bryan Wells; nieces, Sherry Wales, Kimberly Sparks and Lisa Bancroft. He was preceded in death by his father, Grover Lockamy; mother, Mildred Lockamy; sister, Patricia Wells; nephew, Joseph Lockamy and niece, Melinda Blackman.
The family would like to thank the staff of Spring Arbor for their care this past year. We also want to thank Gentiva Hospice for their care in his last days.
A graveside service will be held at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Allen Ham officiating. Visitation will take place at Howard-Carter Funeral Home on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 5-7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the organization of your choosing.
