Geraldine Russell Johnson was born on January 28, 1938, in Kinston N.C. and raised in Fort Barnwell, N. C. Throughout her life, she exemplified kindness, generosity, faith, love, and unwavering strength. Dean (as she was known) was a cherished parent, sibling, grandparent, great grandparent, a loyal friend, and a pillar of support to all who knew her.
Known for her job as a floral designer, and her joy of crafts, reading, gardening, and dedication to her family. Dean touched the lives of many. She had a love for animals, and it didn’t matter what kind. It could be dogs, cats, cows, horses, birds and even a rooster. She will be remembered for her warm smile, humor, love for her family, gentle sprit, faith in Jesus and the compassion she showed to those around her.
Dean is survived by her son, Chris Johnson, daughters, Shari Tilley (Mike) and Lori Booth (Edward), grandchildren, Eric Booth (Melinda), Daniel Johnson (Danyell), and Amber Hart (Dylan), Great granddaughter, Emory Hart, step granddaughter, Lisa St. Clair (Cody) step great grandchildren, Savannah, Regan, Kaylana and Mathew, Sister Becky Walker, her nieces as well as numerous extended family members and cherished friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Gibson Lane Russell and Mary Magdalene Godley Russell.
Her funeral will be held on November 24, 2025, at 11 am at the Russell Cemetery 166 Core Creek Landing Road, Dover N.C. 28526. Friends and family are welcome to attend and share their memories. Though Dean may no longer be with us, her legacy of love, kindness, gentleness and faith endures in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
