Gertrude Jenkins Griffin Jackson, 83, of Kinston, was welcomed home into the waiting arms of Jesus on Sunday, November 14, 2021.
She spent most of her life in the “Plantation” Community of Jones County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Susan Jenkins; brother, Glenn Jenkins and wife, Beulah; husband, Albert “Pess” Griffin, and son, Johnny Jackson and wife, Laurie.
Gertrude is survived by her husband, Don Jackson; daughters, Debra (Robert) Wiggins and Donna Martin; son, Bruce Jackson; grandchildren, Nichole Eubanks and fiancé, Lee Smith, Stephanie Eubanks (Jimmy, Jr.), Rachael Cazares Medellin (Roberto), Jonathan Jackson, Michael Jackson, Rebecca Perdue, and Trisha Unwin; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Dustin, Daisy, Chelsea, Brooke, DeAnn, Jeremiah, Micah, Cailey, Matthew, and Terri; great-great-grandchildren, Cohen, Macie, Dalton, and Maverick; special cousin, Wanda Gay Eubanks, who was always like a daughter, and many special extended family members and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Barbara McLawhorn for her love and care of Gertrude.
A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home and at other times at her daughter’s home, 126 Rouse Adams Lane, Kinston, North Carolina 28504. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
