Glynn Seymour Smith, 83, passed away on May 17, 2018. She was born on July 5, 1934 to Joshua and Lessie Potter Seymour. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 45 years Ray Harold Smith; daughters Elisa Arden Smith and Martha Elizabeth “Bitsy” Smith; brothers Claude, Preston, Leonard and Roger “Pete” Seymour and sisters Ida S. Williamson and Grace S. Rouse.
Glynn is survived by daughters Rhonda S. Jones and husband Sammy of Grifton, Glynda S. Thornton and husband Steve of Winterville; four granddaughters Angie J. Thomas and husband Rick, Sammi J. Parker and husband Lance, Kasi T. Brooks and husband Matthew and Kortni A. Thornton; seven great-grandchildren Hayleigh Warren, Logan Ipock, Raygan and Emma Burnette, Jaxon Parker and Wyatt and Sloan Brooks and two sisters Minnie S. Reynolds of Frederick, Md. and Frances S.Jaslow of Miami, FL. She had many nieces, nephews and cousins that she cared for deeply.
Glynn retired from Caswell Center with more than thirty years of service. She was a faithful member of Westside Original Free Will Baptist Church where she made many lasting friendships from both areas of her life.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter Rhonda S. Jones. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Howard Carter Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Singleton and Pastor David Cauley officiating. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Westside Original Free Will Baptist Church Family Life Center Fund or a charity of your choice.
