Harriet (Arrington) Ragland Crofoot

Harriet Arrington Ragland Crofoot, age 91, was born in Oxford, North Carolina. She passed away peacefully on July 29, 2023.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Mollie Arrington; her husbands, Bunny Ragland and George Crofoot; her son, Glenn Ragland; and grandson, Justin Tingen.

She is survived by her daughters, Vicki Ragland Tingen (Don) and Anita Ragland Watson (Peter); her son, Garland Ragland; her grandchildren, William Ragland III, Jennifer Tingen Clark, Raleigh Watson, Corrine Watson, Spencer Watson, and Garland Ragland, Jr.; and great-grandchildren, Victoria McKenzie Clark and Caroline Clark.

Harriet loved life! She loved to sing and perform. She was a member of the Hester Baptist Church choir, performed in plays, sang at numerous weddings and funerals, and was a member of a trio of beloved friends – Marilyn Logan and Marvel Hilton. Their performances were enjoyed by many.

Harriet worked at JFD Electronics in Oxford and was the first woman promoted to buyer for their electronic parts. She excelled in her job. She also worked for the Granville County School system as a secretary at JF Webb High School. She loved her Red Hat Ladies and always enjoyed being an active member in church.

One of the best ways we have heard Harriet described is: she was fun, cute, sweet, and kind. Her love of good times, funny jokes and pranks will always be remembered. She was dearly loved and will be missed.

A memorial service will take place August 12, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Hester Baptist Church, 6581 State Highway 96, Oxford, NC 27565. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hester Baptist Church.

The family would like to thank the staff in the Cottage at Spring Arbor in Kinston for their love and care for the last few years and Gentiva Hospice for their compassion and care during the last few months.
