Hazel Marie (Suggs) Mellette

Hazel Suggs Melllette, 82, of Kinston died Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Vidant Inpatient Hospice, Greenville.

The Angels have made their precious pickup and Mrs Hazel is no longer in pain, but dancing her heart out in the beautiful streets of Heaven. No longer suffering the tremendous pains and infections that she cleverly covered with that warming and beautiful smile and beautiful sparkling blue eyes. I’ll miss hearing her always saying “ I’m doing the best that I can “ no matter how bad things were. I’ve fought the battle, but I’ve lost the war, to keep the love of my life by my side. But one day I’ll see her again, all beautiful, walking, dancing, pain free, and truly doing the best that she can.

Hazel was preceded in death by her first husband West H. French and her parents, Burrell Stanley Suggs and Cleo Turner Suggs.

She is survived by her husband Marion Mellette; son “Rod” (Teresa) French of Greenville; daughter Gail  (Chris) Kenneally of Vanceboro; Frank (Courtney) Mellette, Beth (Duane) Hawthorne, Kathy (Wayne) Ragland all of Richmond, VA area; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters Helen Brinkley and Jackie Cox.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 8, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Howard-Carter Funeral Home.  Funeral service will be held Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Fishman officiating.   Burial will follow at Westview Cemetery.
