Inez Byrd Fields

Inez Byrd Fields, 82, of Kinston, NC passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.  She was the daughter of the late Sam Byrd and Dollie Hudler Byrd Fussell. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 15 years, James B. Fields.  She is survived by her children, Robert “Buddy” Trimyer (Nadean) of Reidsville, NC, Peggy Jarman (Robert) of Chesapeake, VA, Teresa Pennell (Dave Grant) of Suffolk, VA, David Waller of Hubert, NC; grandchildren, Phillip Martin (Cherie), James Jarman (Desiree), Aaron Jarman (Kayla), Daniel Bowden (Lea) and Candace Smith; eleven great grandchildren; step children, Carolyn Heath, Gail Paderick (Donnie), Lois Ann Hines (Carlton) and Pat Howington (Reid); sisters, Margaret Herring (Bud) and Louise McPhatter; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Mazie Bell Heath, Henry Byrd Sr., Marjorie Price, James Byrd, Hazel Barley, Edward Byrd and Linwood Byrd.

Mrs. Fields worked as the Deli Manager at various supermarkets for many years, she eventually retired from Caswell Center where she was a developmental technician.  She enjoyed reading the Bible and listening to Southern Gospel Music.  She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking for others.

Visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 4, 2024 at Freedom Fellowship Church, 469 Joe Nunn Road, Kinston, NC 28504, with funeral service following at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow the service at Pinelawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends all other times at 3217 Hwy 258 South, Kinston, NC 28504.
