Irma E. (Betsy) Jones Obituary

Betsy Jones, 62, of Kinston, NC, peacefully passed away on Thursday February 11, 2021 with her husband David by her side after a difficult battle with COVID-19.

Betsy was born on August 18th, 1958 and raised in the "bustling" community of Sand Hill USA. After Betsy graduated from North Lenoir High School in 1976, she pursued a degree in nursing at Lenoir Community College.

After graduation, Betsy was a caring and passionate nurse for over 25 years and truly loved her work in helping others.

In 8th grade she met David, and little did they know that they would be together for the rest of each other's lives from that point on. Betsy and David tied the knot on July 7th, 1979 and later brought Johnathan (1984) and Whitney (1988) into the world to complete their family of four.

Betsy retired from nursing after 25 years of caring for others. While retired, Betsy continued to care for those in her community and her church. Betsy was a lover of all holidays and always made sure they were celebrated with love and plenty of decor.

Betsy was predeceased by her parents James and Charlotte Stallings and brothers Jimmy and Willie Allen Stallings. She is survived by her husband David Jones, children Johnathan and Whitney Jones, sister Ava Wilkins, brother Steve Stallings, as well as so many nieces, nephews, and "honorary" children and grandchildren.

A small graveside service for family and close friends will be held at British Chapel Church - 3338 British Rd. Kinston, NC 28501 on Monday February 15, 2021 at 2:00 PM.

We know Betsy is a popular gal with a lot of loved ones, but we ask that anyone in attendance to please respect social distancing and mask wearing will be required.

There will be no visitation prior or afterward gatherings due to COVID restrictions and safety guidelines. We kindly ask that you respect these wishes of the family.
