James George Griffiths Sr.

James George Griffiths Sr., 65, of New Bern, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025.

Born on October 24, 1959, in Camden New Jersey, James spent much of his life in the Garden State before relocating to North Carolina. He worked as a dedicated forklift driver and material handler for several companies throughout New Jersey, always known for his strong work ethic and dependability.

James had a deep love for baseball, which became a central part of his life. He took great pride in coaching youth baseball and found immense joy in watching his son play the sport and grow into an exceptional coach himself. A lifelong Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan, he rarely missed a game and cherished every win—and even the tough losses—with equal passion.

He is survived by his beloved son, James Griffiths Jr., and daughter-in-law, Ali-Dee Griffiths, of Cedar Point, NC, and his cherished grandson, Dawson Griffiths. James also leaves behind his brothers: Charles T. Griffiths of Merchantville, NJ; Peter Griffiths of Louisville, KY; and Robert Griffiths of Deptford, NJ.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Sarah Franks, and his brother, George Griffiths, both of Deptford, NJ.

James will be remembered for his big heart, his love of family, and the joy he found in the simple pleasures of life—cheering from the sidelines, telling stories, and sharing a laugh over a game.

A private family gathering will be held to honor his memory at a later date.
