Jo Ann Langston Obituary

Jo Ann Langston, 69, of Kinston, passed away from this life on Monday, October 11, 2021 at Harmony Hall.  She was born July 31, 1952 at Parrott Memorial Hospital, Kinston, NC to John William Langston and Mary Frances Buck Langston.  She attended Fort Barnwell Elementary School and graduated from Farm Life High School in Vanceboro, NC.  She retired from the Kinston DuPont Plant in 1991.

She is rejoicing to be home with the Lord Jesus Christ, being greeted by her friends and loved ones with her new body in fellowship praising the Lord.  Through his mercy, grace and abundant blessings He allowed her to live with multiple sclerosis for many years.  Beyond the sunset in this life, we have eternal joy in a heavenly home if you seek it.

She lived most of her life on the Berta White Griffin farm in the Lane’s Chapel community of Dover.  Knowing a very strong great grandmother taught her respect for the elderly.  She treasured a solid foundation of memories, growing up with a large loving family on a tobacco farm.  Growing up with lots of cousins formed lifelong bonds.  She was blessed to have known six generations of her family.

She grew up attending Lane’s Chapel Methodist Church on Highway 55W Dover.  Her childhood pastor, Reverend Joe Parker was a model for what a pastor should be.  He lived the words he preached, in and out of the pulpit.  She later attended British Chapel OFB Church in the Sand Hill area of Lenoir County with her children.  Both churches contributed to her spiritual growth in a loving neighborhood.

Preceding her in death, her father, John William Langston; grandparents, David and Mary Buck and John P. and Estelle Langston.  She is survived by her mother Mary Frances Buck Langston; two sons; four grandchildren; brother, David Wesley Langston and wife Georgia Kaye; nephew, Stephen David Langston.

There will be no service at this time.

In lieu of flowers, give a gift to support the Lord’s work. There are many ways you can help the living. Pass a blessing forward in a gift of time.  Visit rest homes, shut-ins, show kindness to others and you will be blessed.
