Johnie Garris, Jr.
September 21, 1978 – November 13, 2024
La Grange- Johnie Clifton Douglas Garris, Jr. was taken too soon on November 13, 2024. He was born in Lenoir County to Johnnie Garris, Sr. and Rose Lambert Ashe on September 21, 1978. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jesse Lambert, Jr. and Doris Arlene Lambert, and Roy Garris and Willie Mae Garris. In addition to his parents, Johnie is survived by his fiancé, Penelope Rikard; their son, Colt Jamison Garris; sister, Kimberly Garris; brother, Jesse Ray Garris; special friends, Larry Kennedy, Paul Councilman, Jason Beck, and Chris Gee; and many special nieces and nephews.
Rambunctious from the start, Johnie was all boy and always into something. He enjoyed tree-climbing and would not hesitate to climb to the top, even when it meant the fire department had to bring him down.
Johnie’s greatest passion in life was his family. He and Penelope spent twelve wonderful years together and built a life they loved. He was overjoyed when he received the news that he and Penelope would be having a baby boy. Johnie believed their son, Colt, hung the stars, moon, and sun. He was a doting and loving man and father.
With a heart of gold, Johnie was always willing to help anyone in need. He had an outgoing personality and never met a stranger. His mission was always to make others smile and he gave the very best hugs. Johnie was headstrong and determined but remained a kid at heart.
Johnie enjoyed video games and was an avid gamer. He enjoyed being outdoors, whether shooting guns, grilling out, throwing a football around, or working on his muscle cars. He was passionate about Ford Mustangs, old and new. Training at the gym with Penelope was an activity that provided extra opportunity for bonding.
