Johnny Marrell Russell, 73, of Fort Barnwell passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at Vidant Medical Center surrounded by his favorite girls. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
Johnny was a proud United States Army Veteran, devoted father, and “Papa” to his two grandsons. He loved spending time with his family and was happiest outdoors, especially teaching his grandsons about his cows.
He is survived by his daughters, LTJG Amy Russell, USN of Guam and Amanda Edwards and husband, Kent; grandchildren, Easton Edwards and Paxton Edwards; sister, Joyce Tripp; and special friend, Shirley Griffin, all of Fort Barnwell.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Russell Family Cemetery on Core Creek Landing Road in Fort Barnwell, North Carolina with Pastor Clint White officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. Russell from 1:00-3:00 p.m. after the service.
