Katherine Hickok Tucker; Our Beautiful, Sweet Mama went to be with the Lord Tuesday night December 17, 2024. She was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend. She was born April 12th, 1947 in Richmond, Va to the late Fred and Janie Hickok. She was an ECU graduate class of 1969. Kathy retired over
20 years ago from Lenoir County Health Dept. as the WIC Director. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Kinston where her servant’s heart was apparent in the Children Ministry & Cub Scout Program. A member of the Neuse Quilters Guild, she loved to share her love of quilting with anyone who expressed an interest in making a quilt. A member of Daughters of the American Revolution, Kathy was a proud patriotic American. Kathy’s smile, cheerful personality, and her love for all things good made her a joy to be around. She had many friends from all walks who she genuinely cared for.
She is survived by her husband James Earl Tucker of the home. Sons James Frederick Tucker “BO” of Kinston and Girlfriend Hannah Edwards and her daughter Gracie Edwards, James “Elvis” Tucker and wife Hannah Tucker of Pink Hill, grandchildren Penelope Tucker, Ellington Tucker and Leilani Tucker; sister Jane Schlier and husband Frank Schlier of Kinston In-Law Mary Hazelwood, Judy Birdsong husband Charlie, Donald Davis and wife Nancy, Hazel Johnson and husband Lowell, and Jimmy Tucker. Several Nieces and Nephews who she deeply cared for.
Preceded in death by sister-in-law Brenda T. Williams.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 23, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Kinston with Jon Hoover officiating. Interment will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
