Kimberly Wells Barnes, born Kimberly Deetet Farrell, 71, peacefully passed away with her family by her side at Kitty Askins Hospice Center on March 8, 2025. She was born in Wake County to the late Karr “Karlo” Winslow and Cynthia Frances Farrell on August 25, 1953.
Kimberly was a graduate of Campbell University, obtaining her Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She went on to pursue her lifelong passion of teaching children all over Eastern North Carolina. Kimberly had a love of animals, especially her beloved kitty cats. She was an avid UNC Tarheels fan and loved to listen and dance to beach music. She was the best shopping partner and enjoyed giving her grandchildren candy and stuffed animals. Most importantly, Kimberly was the best wife, “Mama”, and “Granny.”
The visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am and the memorial service of love and remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Saint Paul Methodist Church in Goldsboro.
Kimberly is survived by her husband of 32 years, Rodney Barnes; son, Brandon Wells and wife, Amanda, of Snow Hill; daughter, Elaine Heath of Kinston; her five grandboys, Karrson, Rayland, and Jacob Wells, and William and Joshua Heath; siblings, Karr Winslow Farrell, Jr. (Diane), Karrlynn Johnson (Robert), and Kyle Farrell (Kim); as well as many special family and friends.
