Linda Allen (Schultz) Byrd

Linda Schultz Byrd, 64, of Kinston passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Spring Arbor of Kinston.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Elvin Dale Schultz and Beverly Moody Schultz, of New Bern and husband, Johnnie P. Byrd, Jr.

Linda is survived by her daughters, Jenny Byrd Thomas and husband, Michael, Molly Gail Byrd and special friend, Barrett Foster; son, Jack Henry Byrd; grandchildren, Norah and Charles (Charlie) Thomas; sisters, Jean Nuttall and husband, Mike of Atlanta, GA and children, Emily and Laura, Betsy Norris of Wake Forest, NC and children, Brittany, Danielle, Zach, and Landon, and sister-in-law, Brenda Grady and husband, Les, and nephew, Quinton.

Linda was born in Maryland but grew up in New Bern, NC. She participated in cheerleading, girl scouts, and was an accomplished piano player. After graduating from New Bern High School, she attended East Carolina University where she received her BA in Elementary Education and eventually her M.ED. She met her husband, Johnnie, shortly after and was married in April of 1981.

A devoted schoolteacher for 30 years, she loved spending her summers vacationing at the beach with her family and friends. She was a wonderful mom who enjoyed the company of her children, cooking, listening to great music and attending the occasional concert.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home in Kinston.
